The Wind Ensemble is a select group of student musicians who perform advanced and challenging literature. Auditions and director discretion determine placement; instrumentalists enrolled in Wind Ensemble must also be in the marching band.

The Wind Ensemble is a select group of student musicians who perform a wide variety of advanced and challenging literature. Auditions may take place to determine placement into this group, or students may be selected at the discretion of the Director based on demonstrated ability and/or work ethic. Instrumentalists enrolled in the Wind Ensemble class must be in the marching band.

Rehearsals include daily in-class rehearsals, after-school Tuesday/Thursday rehearsals and sectionals, occasional Friday and Saturday rehearsals/performances. Other activities include FBA District Music Performance Assessment, Solo and Ensemble Performances, PRISM concert, graduation rehearsal and performance, and select band members perform in the orchestra for the Drama Department's musical.

First concert of the year featuring Wind Ensemble selections.

Holiday season and PRISM concert performances.

Graduation performance and Drama Club orchestra collaboration.

Attendance at after-school rehearsals is part of the class grade. Conflicts must be communicated with Mr. Black in advance.

Prepare materials

Audition is announced each spring; prepared excerpts will be provided in advance.

Audition & placement

Director makes selections based on demonstrated ability, work ethic, and ensemble balance.
